The Boys and the Frogs

Some boys, playing near a pond, saw a number of Frogs in the water, and began to pelt them with stones. They killed several of them, when one of the Frogs, lifting his head out of the water, cried out: "Pray stop, my boys; what is sport to you is death to us."

Moral : What we do in sport often makes great trouble for others.

Reflection : All of us loves playing. But, too much playing that can hurt others is wrong.  Sometimes, because of the enjoyment, we forgot that we hurt the feelings of others that may lead to conflicts.

The Lion and the Mouse

A lion lay asleep in the forest, his great head resting on his paws.  A timid little mouse came upon him unexpectedly, and in her fright and haste to get away, ran across the lion's nose.  Woken from his nap, the lion laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny creature to kill her.
"Spare me!" begged the poor mouse. "Please let me go and some day I will surely repay you."
The lion was so amused at the idea of the little mouse being able to help the King of Beasts, that he lifted up his paw and let her go.
Some weeks later, the lion was caught in a net.  The hunters who desired to carry the lion alive to their King tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him.
Just then the little mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the lion's sad plight, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes of the net, freeing the lion.
"You have helped me and now I have returned the favor.  Was I not right - even a mouse can help a lion!" said the little mouse.

Moral : Even the smallest friend is worthwhile!

Reflection: Sometimes in our lives, we are like lions, we often judge others by their looks, status in life, and sometimes we even think they are worthless. Then I realized that, it is not good to judge others if we don't know him/her yet. Because each one of us is unique and have different abilities or characteristics that God had given to us.

Speedy Rabbit

A dog spotted a rabbit and started chasing him, but the rabbit got away.

Seeing this, a goat stopped to gloat.

"Too fast for you, wasn't he?" he sneered.

"Why are you surprised?" said the dog. "I was chasing him for fun; he was running for his life."

Moral: Performance depends on motivation.

Reflection : For me, the level of performance depends on the level of motivation that stimulates someone to work and carry out the necessary tasks to achieve the goals.

The Camel and the Arab

An Arab Camel-driver having completed the lading of his Camel, asked him which he would like best, to go up hill or down hill. The poor beast replied, not without a touch of reason: "Why do you ask me? Is it that the level way through the desert is closed?"

Moral : Do not ask obvious questions.

Reflection : Like in our day-to-day lives, some people asks obvious questions. The Arab Camel-driver is like my tito, he always asks irritating questions that sometimes i got irritated to it. And, because of it, i couldn't control my temper.

The Young Crab and His Mother

"Why in the world do you walk sideways like that?" said a Mother Crab to her son. "You should always walk straight forward with your toes turned out."
"Show me how to walk, mother dear," answered the little Crab obediently, "I want to learn."
So the old Crab tried and tried to walk straight forward. But she could walk sideways only, like her son. And when she wanted to turn her toes out she tripped and fell on her nose.

Moral : "Do not tell others how to act unless you can set a good example."

Reflection : Parents always demand something to their children. They expect too much and they want a perfect life for them without  thinking their children's limitations. Just like my mom, she wants me to do something that she don't even know how to do the things that she wants me to do.

The Dog and His Reflection

A Dog, to whom the butcher had thrown a bone, was hurrying home with his prize as fast as he could go. As he crossed a narrow footbridge, he happened to look down and saw himself reflected in the quiet water as if in a mirror. But the greedy Dog thought he saw a real Dog carrying a bone much bigger than his own.
If he had stopped to think he would have known better. But instead of thinking, he dropped his bone and sprang at the Dog in the river, only to find himself swimming for dear life to reach the shore. At last he managed to scramble out, and as he stood sadly thinking about the good bone he had lost, he realized what a stupid Dog he had been.

Moral : "It is very foolish to be greedy."

Reflection : Some of us dreamt to have a luxurious life. Just like in our lives today, eventhough we have enough, we crave for more. We are not contented on the things we have. In order not to lose the things that we have, we should be contented.

Right Choice

Moral : It's better to have one safe way than a hundred which you cannot reckon.

Reflection : I've found out that the more choices you give to a person, the less likely they are to make a decision.  If you have too many detailed options, it will be difficult to come up with a decision.

Plane Truth

Two travelers, seeking respite from the searing heat of the midday sun, took shelter under a leafy tree.

They soon felt cool and refreshed.

“What sort of tree is this? Does it produce edible fruits?” asked one of the men to the other.

“It’s a plane tree,” said his companion. “Don’t waste your time looking for fruits. It produces neither edible fruits nor good wood. It’s one of the most useless trees around."

“How can you say that when you’re enjoying my shade at this very moment?” snapped the tree.

Moral : Often, a person’s worst critics are those who have benefited the most from him.

Reflection : Most of us judge others by physical appearance. They judge without knowing it's use. For instance, the teacher of my brother is old enough and he thinks that she can't teach well because of her age. But, the real thing is, old teachers can teach well than the others because of their experiences.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Moral : We may not believe someone who often tells lies, even when he tells the truth. Hence, "Don't cry Wolf when there is no Wolf!"

Reflection : Just like in real life, some people tell lies just to seek attention for a problem which does not exist. And when you do have a true problem, no one will believe you because they think that your'e seeking attention again. So, never tell lies because if you're considered to be a liar by other people, they won't believe you when you do tell the truth.
